Certifications
In the highly regulated Australian rail industry, maintaining compliance is crucial to ensuring the safety of passengers and workers. With the goal of preventing derailments and injuries, Rail Infrastructure Managers have established registers for every piece of rail maintenance machinery. However, keeping and maintaining these registers can be a daunting task for local government departments.
To help with the registration and compliance process, the government has appointed competent persons to assist and achieve these goals. ProRail is proud to be a registered Independent Competent Person (ICP) for many networks across the country. Our extensive portfolio of competencies covers a wide range of networks, making us one of the few providers in Australia that can match our capabilities.
As ICPs, we are authorized to certify any track maintenance vehicle for use on a multitude of networks across the country, including major networks such as ASA (NSW City), ARTC (National), MTM (Melbourne City), V/LINE (VIC Regional), DPTI (SA), ARC INFRASTRUCTURE (WA Regional), TAS RAIL (TAS), PTA (Perth City), JH RAIL (John Holland Job), and AURIZON (QLD Regional).

Road Rail Vehicles
For any road vehicle that has been manufactured or modified to operate on rail, the owner and/or operator of the vehicle shall obtain an engineer’s certification, validating the design, construction and/or installation of the rail guidance equipment and associated modifications, and shall provide evidence of a documented maintenance and inspection regime for the vehicle, in order to gain approval to operate on the any network.
